why this blog

Published by radhika at 5:10 am under Uncategorized Edit This

My blog, the green mile, is meant to stir our lazy conscience in saving the earth. You may wonder, is this just another green blog? Oh, we have so many on the net? Why wrack your brains on something being talked about anyways by everyone, from the corporate honcho to the NGO? Why this name for a blog?To me, Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks), the cop with a conscience and John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), the gentle giant in the iconic movie The Green Mile represent the complex situation we humans are placed in today. To simplify the green debate, climatic changes, depleting forest cover and direct them towards controlling damage instead of undoing it, would be foolishness on the part of humans. Yet, we are doing just that. Forgetting to apply practices in our everyday living, forgetting to voice our green concerns when we hear of a damaging government policy or move, forgetting to engage in asking questions…With this blog, am hoping to stir that part of our consciousness that we choose to relegate to a corner by choosing to remain lazy about greener living, bring about ideas and alternatives that help us live greener in our daily lives. The Green Mile, was the last one every prisoner who walked to the execution chair covered. It is probably the last mile that we human beings are journeying through, with all the doom and despair staring at our faces. We need to act with urgency, and yes, we can. Will we? is the question.

I enjoyed this blog and am glad I found it. You are right we do need to be reminded to do our part even if it is only in little ways everday. Have a great Christmas!
